Infrastructure Ontario 401/Keele Campus

Urbacon provided development and site services for the 401/Keele Provincial Campus as part of an on-going strategic planning initiative in the Greater Toronto Area.

The project involved the remediation and upgrade of the site services on the property in preparation for the construction of the new complexes and the construction of three new roads (Agate, Julian and Downsview), parking lots to accommodate the future site plan development and subsequent facilities.

The site includes five government office buildings, an OPP detachment, a transportation lab, a surface parking lot for 1,500 cars, and computing and storage facilities. The accommodations are home to the Humber River Regional Hospital, a 1.7 million SF modern acute care facility and the new Ontario Centre of Forensic Sciences (CFS), a 530,000 SF development. Health and safety was paramount for this construction site due to the number employees that work in the existing office buildings.
