BMW Canada Head Office

Urbacon was engaged to design-build the head office for BMW Canada, located in Barker Business Park in Richmond Hill. The 65,025 SF, four-storey building was to embody BMW’s reputation for performance, innovative design and quality. The building was completed in a 13-month time frame. The BMW building was constructed to house over 450 employees and included key elements such as: open concept design, extensive use of glass, cafeteria and presentation area, automotive showroom and a four-storey feature staircase. An unusual component of construction was the use of a steel frame skeleton with hollow core precast concrete slabs for all floors and ceilings. This method allowed for the speed of construction and the open concept office space with a perfectly finished ceiling. Most important to the client was that the building was delivered on budget and on schedule. The building received LEED® Silver Certification and was nominated for the NAIOP 2010 Office Development of the Year Award.
