Staples Canada Headquarters

As the construction manager, Urbacon was responsible for the construction of Staples headquarters, a 5-storey office building totaling 125,000 SF including all interior finishes. The building is situated on over six acres of land in Richmond Hill, on Staples Avenue; located off Leslie Street between Major Mackenzie Drive and 16th Avenue.

The scope of work included modern open-concept general office space, a featured staircase from the ground to second floor, fitness facility, cafeteria, rooftop terrace, computer/generator room and other common facilities to support 500 staff members. A reduced floor plate was designed to ensure all employees had access to abundant natural light. A central lobby bisects the ground floor to allow access and egress at either end. A demonstration room for prospective Staples products was also constructed to replicate the interior of a Staples’ store, as well as a walking path that bounds the perimeter of the six- acre site.
