Project description
As Construction Manager for the major renovation of this historic building, Urbacon managed the multi-phased, occupied premise renovation and asbestos abatement of floors one through six. The ground floor lecture hall was completely rebuilt, removing tiered seating and levelling the floor and framing components. The new design incorporated folding partition systems that would allow for multiple meetings to occur simultaneously. On the fourth floor of the building, four dormers were constructed onto the existing low roof, bringing sunlight and increased air flow into the space. Great attention to detail and quality of construction was required to ensure that the wood windows, slate tiles and copper cladding match and complemented the existing building details. Construction occurred while the building was fully occupied and in use.
