Wholesale Colocation – Barker Business Park Digital Campus
Project details
- Location: Richmond Hill, ON
Project description
Located just 20 minutes from downtown Toronto in York Region’s world class ICT cluster, the Barker Business Park Digital Campus is home to the latest next generation data centre campus.
In the heart of Canada’s digital corridor, the Barker Business Park Digital Campus at Richmond Hill offers a leading location and key market access, with 65% of Canadian head offices located within one day’s drive, access to 140 million residents within a 500 mile radius and 180,000 businesses and six million consumers across Greater Toronto. Furthermore, you will have access to the superior Toronto infrastructure with immediate access to the 400 series highways and Pearson International Airport located just 15 minutes away, as well as the extensive fibre-optic cable network and the highly available power the region has to offer.
There are also cost savings associated with York region, and the Toronto climate lends itself to free cooling techniques while remaining free from most natural disasters. Above all, you can be secure in the knowledge that your data resides in a 100% Canadian owned data centre, which is not subject to foreign laws.
The Barker Business Park Digital Campus is the focal point for high-efficiency data centre design in the heart of the country’s largest and most significant technology corridor. Our existing and planned infrastructure will accommodate over 600,000 SF of technologically advanced, high security, and energy efficient data centre space in seven leading edge facilities. A phased approach to development of the campus will provide turnkey and colocation alternatives to clients looking to take advantage of robust network connectivity, highly reliable power, and at scale development with further room for expansion. Developed by Urbacon, Canada’s premiere award winning data centre designer and builder, the Barker Business Park Digital Campus provides all of the attributes and amenities necessary to get ahead in the cloud.
A modular approach to interior space planning provides a series of data “pods” along exterior walls proximate to external cooling equipment. Dedicated electrical rooms associated with each pod are located along a central spine in the interior of the building with oversized access corridors connecting functional spaces to loading, storage and receiving areas. Prestigious office, meeting space and technical support space are located inside the main secure entrance behind the glazed portion of the building façade. Exterior architecture is influenced by modern desktop computer designs through the use of etched glass and concrete panels with pronounced diagonal lines, coloured metal accent panels, and a distinct base-middle-top massing creating a high-quality, high-technology image.
